A piece of the recent past
WHATEVER THEIR FUTURE plans or potential, the buildings on the 2200 block of Fillmore Street acquired with funds from investor Neil Mehta have already brought back one piece of Fillmore’s recent past: boarded-up empty storefronts.

SOME EXISTING BUSINESSES on Fillmore Street have gates, especially those with recessed doorways. More have been added recently, both for protection and to deter overnight sleeping.

Wonderful piece. I remember when the jazz clubs on Fillmore stayed open past two — this brought it all back. Thank you for keeping the memory of the neighborhood alive.

A small correction — the mochi shop on Post opened in 1982, not 1985. My grandfather was there for the ribbon cutting. Love the coverage otherwise.
